A Church Worth Finding…

I guess you could characterize our church as a white board siding country church, right out of a Norman Rockwell painting where “we have never met a stranger!”We worship God with a warm, country, informal, down-home style – you know, no pipe-organs or choir robes. We are growing and we had already raised funds by the time we built our new fellowship hall, but we hung onto our traditions and family atmosphere. We still make homemade floats for parades and love our potluck dinners, our ‘Singspirations’ amateur talent shows and as Pastor I occasionally take a pie in the face when the congregation meets a new challenge!

If you are looking for a growing, exciting church, but still with a traditional family atmosphere – come visit us – you will not feel like a stranger!

– Pastor Ted

Meet the Staff

Ted James
Senior Pastor
Pastor James began his service at Senior Pastor at Round Hill (RHBC) in June 1999, having previously served churches in Newport News and Virginia Beach. He was raised in Norfolk, VA and graduated from the College of William and Mary with a B.B.A. and from Southeastern Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity. Rev. James coined the phrase “A church worth finding” for RHBC because it has certainly been that for his family. As RHBC approaches its 200th anniversary in 2020, he looks forward to the things Christ has in store for our church in the next century.
Kris Hutchinson
Associate Pastor (Youth)
Kris arrived at Round Hill in July 2012 after completing his Master of Divinity degree from Wake Forest University School of Divinity. He has held numerous ministry positions over the past eight years, and was ordained for the Gospel ministry on January 8, 2012. His passion is evangelism and discipleship. A native of North Carolina, Kris graduated from Randolph-Macon College with a B.A. in Political Science. Kris and his wife Kendall were married in June 2013.
Donna Barnum
Minister of Music
Donna Barnum has served Round Hill for 13 years as part-time Minister of Music. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Bluefield College and a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Southeastern Seminary. A native of King George, she served churches in the Fredericksburg Area as Minister of Youth and Music for 9 years prior to coming to Round Hill.

Barbara Jenkins
Barbara has served as church secretary for 4 years, but she is by no means a newcomer to Round Hill Baptist. Having grown up in this church, she felt led to return and serve when the opportunity arose. She comes to us after working in the Development Office of St. Margaret’s School in Tappahannock for 17 years. When she’s not keeping the office running smoothly here at RHBC, she’s an active member of St. James Episcopal Church in Montross.
Steve Barnum
Church Pianist

Not surprisingly, Steve Barnum has also served Round Hill for 13 years as the church pianist. He attributes this to having the wisdom and good taste to marry the Minister of Music 20 years ago. Originally from Pittsburgh, Steve completed his Engineering degree at West Virginia University, and works for the federal government when he’s not working for Donna!
